Deciding on a PS2 Repair course of action

April 20, 2006
by Mark Eastman

So you are looking for some PS2 Repair advice? Your family's PS2 is broken and your kids are yelling "Mom/Dad we need our PS2 repaired. We can't play games anymore" What is a person to do? You love your kids and you know how much they love playing the PS2, plus it keeps them occupied and out of trouble, so it is very important to you to have a working playstation 2 in your house.

However, the electric bill is due, the house payment is coming up, or you can think of a number of other things that make it easy for you to justify not spending $129.00 right now on a new PS2. Still the problem persists, no playstation 2 in the house. What else can I do? I have to spend the money right?

You think, before I go spend the money on a new one let me ask the guy down at the local video exchange store if he knows what I can do to get my PS2 repaired. So you go in and ask and find out that there is a local shop that can do the repair for you and he gives you the number. You are excited now and give them a call and tell them what is going on. They tell you, "sure we can fix that for you just bring it over. It will take us 3 days to get it back to you and cost your $49.95 plus parts". "How much are parts you ask?" "Well, that all depends on what parts you need" they say. "We won't know until we get in there and then we will let you know". Your eyebrows raise and you think "This sounds familiar to me, where have I ran into this before?" At the local car garage is where. Mechanics do the same thing. The trick is, do you really trust your mechanic to tell you what part you need? Do you really believe the ps2 repair tech when he says you need a new laser and they cost $50? The trouble with this method is that you don't know if you are getting shafted or not, you have to believe them. Your console could end up being held hostage until you pay them what they want, or you could end up paying $30.00 and get it back with nothing done to it, and still have a ps2 repair issue.

Your last resort is to see if you can do it yourself. Most people don't even think about that option, so if you are reading this then congratulations for taking the steps to research your ps2 repair issue. You are on the verge of getting your ps2 repaired and you will be very surprised as to how easy it really is. The Powerful Playstation 2 Repair Guide is a very detailed manual that will walk you through the repair process step by step. It covers a host of problems, and they are all fairly easy to repair using the guide.

Now you may be worried that you have no technical skills at all or don't really feel comfortable working on electronic stuff. Let me try to put your mind as ease. When the book was written, it was written with the intention that people who know nothing about electronics were going to be using it. All of the techniques in the book are there because they require no special skills and no special tools. There is no soldering involved. If a new technique is discovered, but it requires soldering or some special piece of equipment, it is not included because it does not fit the criteria for the book.

The most common ps2 repair issues are fairly easy to fix. There are many who say they can tell you how to do it, but very few who have actual experience at doing it. Not only that, they cannot say they are actual technicians that have reviewed the information and adapted it to their way of doing it. Yet, that is exactly what you get in the Powerful Playstation 2 Repair Guide. It was written by an electronic technician who has been in the business for 25 years. He has taken the techniques and used them and adapted them to make it as easy as possible for you to check and work on your ps2 yourself and get it repaired. There are tons of pictures in the book showing practically every move to make.

If you are in the process of trying to get your playstation 2 repaired I urge you to think about doing it yourself. You really can. It is not that hard. To take a look at the free trial of the book click here. If you want to take a look at the sales page of the book click here.

The Powerful Playstation 2 has become the saving grace for thousands of other customers in the same predicament you are in right now. It can help you out of your current situation and get your family PS2 working again in just a matter of hours and for about 25% of what it would cost you to have someone else do it for you. Go ahead and take the chance on fixing the console yourself. You will be glad you did.
